Week of 4-6-26

Hello

Welcome to the first full entry on this blog. This website isn’t fully complete but as the posts go on, it’ll get better. Keen-eyed readers might also see that this is a “.workers.dev” page and not a “pages.dev”. It’ll be changed in due time. Probably.

Warning
I literally just do not know how to use HTML or CSS. I’m rawdogging it via TinyBones’ template. There’s many remnants of it on this page but they’ll leave as I update it.

What to expect

This is already partly listed on the introduction page, but this is a bit more in detail. Might use these descriptions for the about page.

  1. Anime and Manga: Probably the main content of this blog. Just ranting about any and all animanga I read/watch in that week. I won’t hold back so expect unordered heavy spoilers, theories, long rants, etc. I’ll try to figure out a table of contents for this section to allow skipping of spoilers but i think it’ll just be a list of the titles until I figure it out. At the start of each anime season I’ll make a different post about what I’m watching that season. Yes, that does mean this week comes with not one, but two posts: one for the season and one for the week.
  2. Talking about My life: This won’t happen too much because I’d rather use my support network and internet privacy and all but sometimes it’ll just happen.
  3. Rants about video games: This goes alongside No.1 but it’ll be interesting.
  4. Complaining about stuff: You’d think this would go along with #2 but I’m keeping it separate since that “complaining” can also be about this website in general, like me complaining about how hard updates were. This will also includes updates on my main? secondary? website which the order is to be figured out. It’ll be named forever young as the link implies. This blog was originally supposed to be named Forever Young, actually. It represented the drive to continously engage in childlike wonder and whimsy with animanga and games, even as times get tough. A big meaning, but I did originally come up with it because of a certain character from a certain videogame. Despite this silly choice, the meaning has become the driving force behind this blog.

With that all out of the way, let’s finally get to it!

Animanga

DAICON III & IV Opening Animations

So of anything I could begin with, why the DAICON animations? I think solely because of how impressive they are for the time. You don’t need subs to watch them, they’re available on youtube, and they’re a giant time capsule. DAICON III(1981) is a great showing of the 70s, and is very well animated for a small indie group’s debut title. DAICON III Postcard Set I don’t have as much to say about DAICON III, and that’s because DAICON IV(1983) does everything it does and more. It opens up with a great synthwave theme, and it just does not stop with the great animation once it begins. If DAICON III was a time capsule, DAICON IV is a reference ark. The straight up number of references hasn’t even come close by any other anime, as far as I’m aware. The animation is a big improvement from the former, and it’s a spectacle to watch. I 100% recommend these two, especially since it might take you longer to read this blog than watching the 2 OPs. By some miracle, there’s a recording of the actual airing of DAICON IV, and people’s reaction to it. Give that a watch too. As for me, I also plan to watch Otaku no Video(1991), a part-documentary OVA on the creation of the studio behind the show, and the creation of the DAICON OPs. Oh yeah. I forgot to mention. This are studio Gainax’s debut titles. The makers of Evangelion started with this. My scores(out of 100 points) are as follow:

DAICON III: 80 DAICON IV: 90 Shot from DAICON IV

Project A-ko

I had no expectations going into the 1986 movie. I only had found out about this movie through a book regarding the study of otaku(maybe in a future blog I’ll discuss it). The only thing I knew about it was that it was a spinoff of a hentai turned full movie, and the biggest thing that stood out to me was the sheer amount of mecha action involved. There were so many mecha, and honestly, it was a really fun time. The movie is silly but very funny. I came to a quick realization that this was probably a big inspiration for the 2013 anime Kill la Kill. Ryuko and Mako’s relationship from that show mirrors that of A-ko and C-ko very closely. There are other possible inspirations it might have taken, and I haven’t done any research to check, but the main one that will clearly stand out is A-ko and C-ko’s relationship. The story is more simple than it seems, but it’s a great show if you liked Kill la Kill. And if you haven’t seen Kill la Kill Watch it too!

Seitokai ni mo ana wa aru

Honestly, the manga’s been on break for a lil bit but I couldn’t NOT talk about it. With the English translation coming out in September, and the anime having been confirmed, it’s been on my mind. I mean, it’s one of my favorite mangas, after all. I read this manga both in English and Spanish, as well as MTL raws for it. These characters and their relationships are so funny, and I love reading their interactions. Therefore, an Anilist review of the series is in progress! It’s been in my mind for a bit but I haven’t been able to encapsulate my opinions of the show in words. Even so, I’m going to do it anyways! Be on the lookout for that. As for the latest raw chapter (168), it’s more Komaro-Ume relationship stuff. In the process of thinking about this review, and a reread, I’ve been thinking about their relationship. The main love relationship is obviosuly Ume-Hisako, but Komaro and Ume are stuck together like glue. Hell, most of the manga they’re quite literally attached to each other. You can qualify it as best friends, but I consider Tan to be more of a best friend compared to Komaro. The manga did portray their relationship as Komaro being Ume’s daughter once(yes literally). If I had to pick, they’re just a really close pair of siblings. Very wholesome chapter. AL page

One Piece(major spoilers)

I had some chapters backed up on OP, and I kinda regret not catching up because wow the stakes are crazy. I kinda wanted Broggy and Dorry to die, since it would’ve created some stakes, but alas. It’s time for the big discussion I, and probably every other person talking about One Piece is talking about. Saint Nerona Imu. He’s here, and he’s not Lili like people where theorizing. It’s great to finally, finally, get his reveal. He looks pretty cool, so I can’t wait to get a better look at him. I also watched the newest episode of the anime due to its return. It was pretty well animated, but we can’t ignore that this was only 1 chapter, due to that new schedule. I don’t know whether I’ll watch all 26 eps this year, but I’ll watch the next one. It doesn’t seem as well-animated as this one, so it’ll give us a good understanding of what the new schedule will actually look like.

Games

Pokemon Champions

THE competitive Pokemon game is here, and it doesn’t look that bad. However, there are quite some issues that have shown up regarding the game. You know it’s bad when Joe Merrick of Serebii is posting negative stuff about it. The meta apparently ain’t fun, which doesn’t sound good, but I’m enjoying it personally so I don’t care too much. I haven’t played it that much, so expect a section on it for the next regular blog. Kitt is hot.

What’s next

This ended up being a bit shorter than I kind of wanted it to be, but between making sure the blog works, actually reading/watching/playing, writing this, and college, it ended up being a bigger deal than I expected. I want to end off with a checklist of things I want to do before the next regular post. It’ll give expectations for next post, as well as a motivator for me to do these things. Of course, there’s the spring 2026 watchlist, and some of those shows might show up for the next post. Without further ado, here’s the checklist. bye!:

  • Spring 2026 anime
  • watch 2 or more episodes of Pokemon Horizons per week
  • read more Detective conan
  • give this blog a title
  • write my blogs in a proper document first because oh my god writing this in notepad is hell
  • write small sections for the blog after I do things so it doesn’t cut into my college time too much
  • fix some of the links in this blog to eliminate the TinyBones reference(I’ll credit the template when I work on the about page later)
